The Art of Grace Li Wang

Greg Plachta My work reflects a longing for a simpler, less stressful life.

As we deal with this new millennium, life seems to be getting more complex. I believe that many of us are rethinking the quest for money and material possessions. Many of the images are of a contemplative nature, inviting the viewer to sit a spell and enjoy.

The medium is black and white infrared film that I hand process and print on double weight photographic paper. Usually, the images are cropped in-camera and the entire negative is presented.

I was raised in Michigan. We moved 12 times before I graduated from high school. I served in US Air Force as still photographer, being stationed in Texas, Colorado, Idaho, South Korea and South Carolina. I graduated from Brooks Institute of Photography, Santa Barbara California. I worked eight years at Burroughs Wellcome in RTP as staff photographer. For the last fourteen years I have operated my own commercial photography studio in Durham. I am active in the trade organizations ASMP and AIGA. I currently live in the country north of Hillsborough.

I have had a one person and two person show at Craven Allen Gallery in Durham, and have been accepted in several group shows at the Durham Art Guild.
